It’s also an opportunity to improve your life in ways you may not have considered.
My goal with each client is to provide support for change as efficiently as possible. Our work will be direct and solution-focused, with the intention of empowering through your values to thrive in your best life possible.

Standard 75-minute Couple or Family session: 240
Even if your insurance provider has told you my name, I do not work with any insurance panels.
With insurance companies dictating clinical decisions such as length of treatment, frequency of sessions, length of sessions, and mandated mental health diagnosis for reimbursement, Gates Therapy operates independently of all insurance companies. Instead, professional focus is on providing the best care to clients without being controlled by insurance companies. This also keeps clients’ risk of identity theft as low as possible.
Bypassing insurance allows the utmost flexibility and privacy for my clients.
Whereas insurance may only cover in-office sessions, I provide online therapy for those who travel for work as well as phone sessions for those needing extra support in between sessions.
Since you will not have a mental health diagnosis exchanged about you online, your records are completely secure and confidential. There will be no diagnosis on your permanent health record, and no one will ever know you’re in therapy unless you tell them.
As a courtesy to individual clients who wish to utilize their insurance benefits, I can provide a receipt for you to seek reimbursement for out-of-network plan benefits, if requested. (This service does require a diagnosis, so please note that a mental health diagnosis may be added to your permanent health record if you will be submitting claims for our work to insurance.)
You will pay for each individual session. If your plan provides any coverage for out-of-network providers, you will receive a check directly from your insurance company, after submitting the receipt from our sessions. I can send you your receipt, if requested, once-a-month.
Couples counseling is not covered under health insurance plans, regardless of whether or not a therapist in in network with an insurance company.
The only way a therapist is able to bill insurance for couples counseling is by assigning a mental health diagnosis to one partner and then submitting claims to the insurance company as if they are treating that person’s mental illness.
So What Are My Options?
If the cost of therapy seems to be out of reach, consider the following:
•Pre-tax dollars can be used with your Health Savings or Flexible Spending Account to pay for therapy. Please note that HSA accounts make it harder to get couples therapy covered, so check on that before you get started.
•Speak with your tax preparer to see if you could deduct therapy expenses from your taxes as an out-of-pocket health expense.
•Understand that therapy is an investment in yourself and your relationship. Compare the financial cost of short-term therapy to the possible long-term emotional costs of NOT seeking help: The benefits far outweigh the risks.
